National Credit Act South Africa No. 34 of 2005
The National Credit Act South Africa came into being in March 2006 with the aim of protecting consumers in credit transactions. The National Credit Act South Africa also regulates all types of credit dealings in South Africa including:
• Mortgage bonds
• Overdrafts
• Store accounts
• Vehicle financing
• Personal loans
• Micro-loans
• Pawn brokering
As such any type of credit related transaction is regulated under the National Credit Act South Africa. The Act makes provision for debt review as a means to protection against creditors while being able to pay off debt should an individual become over in-debt and thus not being able to pay accounts in the due manner. The National Credit Act South Africa, in addition, regulates credit bureaus as well as credit information of consumers. With such the Credit Bureaux keeps credit information and the consumer is entitled to access of the information.
