Certificate in Bookkeeping | Wits | Johannesburg

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) offers Bookkeeping  part-time classes in the evenings, on the West Campus. It is a Certificate Course in Bookkeeping, extending over 14 weeks, in two hour weekly sessions. This short course will introduce students to the basic concepts of accounting.

Wits Accounting Course:

  • Conceptual framework to accounting with a recap of the accounting equation
  • Accounting equation and the analysis of transactions
  • Accounting process in recognizing transactions in the financial statements
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Property, plant and equipment
  • Inventory and Cost of Sales
  • Accounts receivable and Bad Debts
  • Cash and Bank (reconciliations)
  • Non current and current liabilities
  • Owners’ Equity
